he city of Hemet is now accepting applications from groups seeking community event funding. Priority will be given to applicants holding events in Weston, Gibbel or Mary Henley parks. Community groups and nonprofits interested in partnering with the city are strongly encouraged to apply.
An ad-hoc committee will review applications and make a final recommendation to the City Council before June 30. The City Council established the Special Event Funding Program in 2012 to support community and special events.
The 2017-2018 Program Guidelines and Application materials for both small events (funding from $100 to $999) and large events (more than $1000) are available at www.cityofhemet.org or by contacting Kathleen Aguilar in the city manager’s office at (951) 765-2301.
More than $25,000 was awarded in 2016 to local organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce, Hemet Valley Art Association, Ramona Bowl Association, Soboba Foundation, Central County United Way, Valley Queens Production and Diamond Valley Arts Council.
The application period opened March 13 and will close April 6 at 5 p.m. Due to potential city budget constraints, the City Council may not award any grants at all.
